Love this E.P. I really like the pseudo house vibe here....although it's closer to 80's boogie-funk of course. Very nice production and guitar work here as well. Vinyl appears to be sold out here, but will hunt down a copy elsewhere.
The fourth release on the Good Timin' label is a four-tracker from Conga Radio—a project helmed by Jex and his pal Roberto. With sun and synth echoing the first trio of Good Timin' joints, the Conga project pushes the palette into Burrell territory, thanks to Roberto's 20-year tenure as a DJ and producer in Toronto.
Known as "the radiator" in Toronto DJ circles, Roberto is famous for his home-cooked heaters and an ability to warm up any room in town. Even a cold-ass floor in the dead city is no match for this cat.
Anyway, the A-side features the flute and guitar-driven tropic-not-tropic of "Naturalmente" and the robotic, Hancock-meets-acid vibes of "Timekeeper."
The flip stretches out with two versions of "Slumber Dance," which takes its cue from the Nu Groove years but balances the gritty beats with plenty of New Age glory.
Dial into Conga Radio while you can. Only 300 of these records have been pressed.
